Install takes about 10 minutes and needs no electrician. The sign plugs into a normal wall socket.
Materials and specifications
These are LED neon signs, not glass neon. LED neon flex gives the same continuous glow with no gas, no glass and no mains voltage on your wall.
- Tube: 8-12mm LED neon flex in silicone or flame-retardant PVC
- Backboard: 5mm clear laser-cut acrylic, cut to the shape of your design

LED neon draws roughly a tenth of the power of equivalent glass neon and will not shatter, which is why it is the standard for home and business signage today.
Choosing the right size
Size is the single thing customers get wrong most often, so here is the rule we give everyone.
Your sign should be roughly 60-75% of the width of whatever it hangs above — the bed, the sofa, the bar, the reception desk. Measure that piece of furniture first, then pick the size closest to that figure.
- Longer wording needs more width. A one-word sign at 60cm reads well; a three-word sign at 60cm will not
- Script fonts need more width than block fonts at the same size
- If you are between two sizes, go up. Undersized signs are the most common reason people re-order

Uploading your own artwork or logo
Send a vector file if you have one. It is the difference between a sign that matches your logo exactly and one that is approximated by hand.
- Best: .AI, .EPS, .SVG or vector .PDF, with all text converted to outlines
- Workable: .PNG at 300 DPI, transparent background, at least 2000px wide
- Avoid: screenshots, photos of a logo, or images pulled from a website
Two things to know about how neon works so your design comes out right: every line has to be a continuous tube, so very fine detail, thin serifs and small text below roughly 8mm at final size cannot be formed. And each colour is a separate tube run, so a design with fewer flat colours looks sharper than one with gradients.

Warranty, guarantee and returns 2-year
Every sign carries a 2-year warranty covering the LED tube, the adapter and our workmanship. If any of those fail in normal indoor use, we repair or replace the sign.
Because each sign is made to your own design it cannot be resold, so returns are limited to three cases — and in all three we remake or refund it:
- The sign is faulty
- The sign arrives damaged in transit
- The sign does not match the proof you approved
This is why the free proof matters. You see and approve the exact design before we build, which is the stage to change wording, font, colour or size at no cost.

Glass Neon vs LED Neon: What You're Actually Buying
Most "neon signs" sold today aren’t neon. Traditional neon is hand-bent glass filled with gas and driven by a high-voltage transformer. Modern LED neon is a flexible silicone tube on a clear acrylic backboard, running off a 12-volt plug. Here’s the honest difference — including where glass still beats us.

Where Glass Neon Still Wins
- It’s a genuine craft object. Every tube is bent by hand by someone who spent years learning how. For a heritage bar or a restoration, that’s the right choice.
- The light has a different quality. The glow fills the whole tube. LED gets very close — but a purist standing in front of both can tell.
- It can be repaired indefinitely. A cracked tube can be re-gassed and re-sealed. LED sections get replaced, not restored.
If that matters more to you than cost, safety or shipping, buy glass. For a bedroom, home bar, salon, wedding or shopfront, LED neon flex is the better product — and it’s what we make.
So Is an LED Neon Sign a “Real” Neon Sign?
Not if you mean the gas — and nor are most glass signs, which are usually argon and mercury. If you mean the look: same continuous glowing line, same colour saturation, same halo on the wall. Side by side, most people can’t tell until they touch one.
“Neon sign” has become the name for the look, not the gas. We sell LED neon, and we say so plainly.

FAQ
Are LED neon signs real neon?
No, and almost nothing sold as a "neon sign" today is. Real neon is glass tubing filled with neon gas, running at thousands of volts. Our signs are LED neon flex: a flexible silicone tube with an LED strip sealed inside, shaped to your design. It gives the same continuous glow with no gas, no glass and no high voltage.
What is a custom neon sign made of?
Three parts. A flexible LED neon tube, 8–12 mm thick, made of silicone or flame-retardant PVC with an LED strip inside. A laser-cut clear acrylic backboard, 5 mm as standard, with the mounting holes pre-drilled. And a 12 V plug adaptor with an inline dimmer. That's it. No gas, no glass, no mains voltage anywhere on the wall.
How long do LED neon signs last?
Ours are rated for 30,000–50,000 hours of use. Run 8 hours a day, that's roughly 10 to 17 years. You'll see competitors advertise 100,000 hours, that figure isn't supported by standard LED testing, which caps a reportable lifespan at six times the actual test length. We'd rather give you a number we can stand behind.
Do neon signs use a lot of electricity?
No. LED neon flex draws roughly 3–4 watts per foot of tube for a single colour, and about 14–15 watts per metre for RGB. A typical home-sized sign runs at a similar cost to leaving one LED bulb on. Traditional glass neon uses 15–20 watts per foot, four to five times more.
Do LED neon signs get hot?
No. The tube stays cool enough to hold while it's switched on. It runs on 12 volts — the same as a phone charger — and LEDs convert most of that into light rather than heat. This is one of the main reasons LED neon is safe in a bedroom, a nursery or anywhere children and pets can reach it. Traditional glass neon runs genuinely hot.
Are neon signs safe to leave on overnight?
Yes. LED neon runs on low-voltage DC, stays cool to the touch, contains nothing flammable and has no gas to leak. Many customers leave theirs on permanently in shop windows. The adaptor should be plugged into a normal socket and kept uncovered, as with any plug-in device.
What does a neon sign look like when it's switched off?
The tube reads as a soft white or translucent cord, not a coloured one — a red sign is white when it's off. The clear acrylic backboard is close to invisible against a wall. Most people are surprised by this, so we show every design photographed on and off in daylight.
Can you turn my logo or handwriting into a neon sign?
Yes. Send a photo, a sketch, a screenshot or a vector file and we'll redraw it as a neon layout and send you a mockup before anything is made. Very fine detail and small gaps have to be simplified — the tube is 8–12 mm thick and can't bend tighter than that. We'll show you exactly what changes on the proof.
How long does a custom neon sign take to make and arrive?
You'll get a digital mockup within 24 hours of ordering. Once you approve it, production takes 3-6 days and shipping takes a further 6-12 days. Nothing goes into production until you've signed off the proof, so the clock starts when you approve, not when you order.
What's the warranty, and can I return a custom sign?
Every sign carries a 2-year warranty covering the LED tube, the adaptor and workmanship. Because each sign is made to your design, custom orders can't be resold, so returns are limited to faults, damage in transit, or a sign that doesn't match the mockup you approved. If any of those happen, we remake or refund it.
What size neon sign do I need for my wall?
A good rule: the sign should be about 60–75% of the width of whatever it hangs above, with the bottom edge 15–25 cm clear of the furniture. Above a standard double bed (150 cm) that's roughly a 90–110 cm sign. The most common mistake is going too small — a 40 cm sign above a king bed disappears.
